The Olimpic Shot

The Olympic Shot is one of the different specialties of the sport shooting. It is divided into two modalities, the precision, whose objective is to reach a static or mobile target, and the target whose objective is to break plates thrown by the specific machines of each modality. The Shot has been included in the Olympic Program since the celebration of the first Olympic Games. modern and has only missed the Olympic event in the Olympic Games of St. Louis 1904 and the Olympic Games in Amsterdam 1928.

In 2012, sport consisted of 15 events, 9 for men and 6 for women, in three different modalities:Shot with rifle, with pistol and with shotgun.

This modality at 50 m is subdivided into masculine and feminine modalities. The weapon is a long-barreled rifle, caliber 22mm, with a maximum weight of 8 kg. During the competition, 120 shots are fired at a target 50 meters away. The position of the shooter, the number of shots and the time limit are: Laying position, forty shots in one hour; Standing position, forty shots in one hour and 45 minutes and kneeling position, forty shots in one hour and fifteen minutes; for the reason of shooting in three positions shooting forty shots in each position, it is called, briefly 3x40 test. The same carbine must be used for the three positions; the central circle of the white is 12.4 mm in diameter. The female test is similar, but 20 shots are fired per position (3x20). Optical magnification sights are not used, but so-called "closed sights" in which both the uplift and the crosshairs have circular rings.
