THE FIFA

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (in Spanish: Federación Internacional de Fútbol Association), universally known by its acronym FIFA, is the institution that governs football federations throughout the world. It was founded on May 21, 1904 and is headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. It is part of the IFAB, the body in charge of modifying the rules of the game. In addition, FIFA organizes the World Cup, the other world championships in its different categories and branches, the Olympic Tournaments at the same time as the IOC and other competitions.

FIFA includes 211 football associations or federations from different countries, with 18 member countries more than the United Nations Organization, three less than the International Association of Athletics Federations and four fewer than the International Basketball Federation.
