Chihiro is a ten year old girl who is lost with her parents on a mountain while they were traveling by car. In the mountain they find a tunnel, and on the other side of the tunnel, a small town that seemed abandoned. The family roams the village looking for someone who can help them but all they find are outdoor food stalls.  Chihiro's parents decide to eat at the post and then pay for everything they eat, but Chihiro refuses to repeat again and again that she wants to go home. Chihiro decides to explore the village as she refuses to eat. On a bridge she found a young man of her age who tells her that she and her parents have to leave before nightfall. Chihiro returns for her parents while by the town strange creatures begin to appear, upon arriving the place Chihiro finds that her parents had become pigs. She flees and realizes that this disappearing as it is done at night, then appears the same child of the Bridge saying that his name is Haku, and it helps her. He takes her to a thermal bath house where Chihiro would have to work until she finds a way to escape the spiritual world and return her parents to as they were before.
