HISTORY OF FOOTBALL

The history of football is considered from 1863, the founding year of The Football Association, but they go back several centuries in the past, particularly in the British Isles during the Middle Ages, although there were points in common between different games of ball that developed from the third century a. C., the football of the 21st century, the sport as it is known today, has its origins in the British Isles.

In 1848 representatives of different English schools met at the University of Cambridge to create the Cambridge code, which would serve as the basis for the creation of modern football regulations. Finally, in 1863 in the city of London the first rules of football were made official association.

Since then soccer has had a constant growth, until becoming the most popular sport in the world with some 270 million people. With the completion of the first meeting of the International Football Association Board in 1886 and the founding of FIFA in 1904, the sport has expanded to reach all corners of the world. Starting in 1930, the World Cup of Soccer began, which would become the sporting event with the largest audience in the world.
